Reinventing the existing 4-lane and 5-lane, one way streets to fit current traffic demands. Extensive traffic modelling confirmed the suitability of 2- or 3-lanes on the one way segments of each street. The existing curb lanes will be repurposed to provide on-street parking for business and dedicated on-street bike lanes with a striped safety shoulder. Intersections will be reconfigured with curb bumpouts for shorter and safer pedestrian crossings and the replacement of 21 traffic signals with state of the art controllers, LED signal heads, etc. Replacement of dilapidated infrastructure including curbing, sidewalk, street lighting, pavement resurfacing and landscaping (street trees and stormwater infiltration basins).
