Director of Telecom Engineering
Bringing twelve years of experience to the firm, Chris Scheks has been a valuable GPD employee since 2005. As a Staff Engineer, Project Coordinator, Project Manager and now as Director – Telecom Engineering, Chris has been involved in both the technical and business aspects for the largest coverage providers and tower owners in the United States. He successfully coordinates and manages a team of 40+ employees comprised of structural engineers, field engineers, designers, drafters and administration. Additionally, Chris serves as our Stamping Structural Engineer for GPD’s Telecommunication projects. In 2008, Chris expanded his architectural / engineering experience and broadened GPD’s footprint in the Pacific Northwest by starting the office in Seattle, Washington. It was there that he managed structural analysis, site build drawings and oversaw construction within the region and nationally before transitioning to the Director role in 2015. In the role of Director, Chris supervises and mentors the Telecommunication Engineering department. This involves direct responsibility with Quality Control / Quality Assurance, technical knowledge, development of standards and maintaining high product merit. Projects include poles, self-supporting lattice towers, guyed lattice towers, FRP concealment enclosures, rooftop equipment additions, water tanks, concrete foundation, pile foundations and any structure type and location where antenna equipment can be attached to or installed. This broad spectrum of where equipment can be installed covers numerous material types mostly comprising of, but not limited to, steel, concrete, timber, FRP and all varieties of connection types. The engineering for these projects are completed with in-house developed tools and commercially available software like tnxTower, RISA Product Suite, STAAD, ANSYS and EnerCalc.
Chris earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Univerisity of Akron and is a member of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Northwest Wireless Association.
