OPPORTUNITY CORRIDOR SECTION 2 WINS ABCD OUTSTANDING BRIDGE AWARD

The GPD Group / Great Lakes Construction Company design-build team was honored to receive the 2019 Outstanding New Short Span Bridge award for Opportunity Corridor Section 2 from the Association for Bridge Construction and Design (ABCD) Ohio on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

Opportunity Corridor Section 2, informally known as OC2, was the second of three major projects along Cleveland’s southeast side. This high profile, design-build project not only helped provide a connection between I-490 and University Circle but also improved access and mobility for the under-served neighborhoods located along the corridor.

The project involved the design and construction of the new East 105th Street Bridge that passes over the Norfolk Southern Railroad as well as the expanded Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority station. The design included aesthetic railings, lighting, and ornamental fencing on the bridge as well as the new boulevard roadway from East 93rd Street to East 105th Street in University Circle.

“It was very rewarding to be a part of this project, partnering with The Great Lakes Construction Company and ODOT, to build an important piece of new infrastructure that will be used by many for years to come.” – GPD Project Manager Tom Washko
