Avita Health’s goal was to expand its services in Ontario, Ohio to better serve the health needs of the community. This outpatient clinic space, a renovation of the Sears department store, complements the existing hospital located at the opposite end of the Ontario mall.

As the architect of record in a design-build partnership with Adena Corporation, GPD led a series of planning meetings with practitioners (doctors, nursing staff, administrators) in which we interactively manipulated the Revit plans in real-time to incorporate their functional feedback into the optimal clinic and pharmacy floor plan design.

The existing space was well-suited for adaptive re-use; however, we needed to design the floorplan around the existing columns and utilize existing shafts for new air ducts up to the roof. The clinic expansion included doctor’s offices, exam rooms, reception, waiting area, retail pharmacy with drive-through, x-ray room, and large conference rooms.

Our team efficiently provided Avita with the functional clinic design they set out to achieve, following their interior design standards to maintain brand consistency. The regional community has embraced the new outpatient clinic as a convenient location for their healthcare needs.
