Revitalizing Suburban Water Mains

Since 2011, GPD has been the leading design consultant for replacement and rehabilitation of water mains and waterlines within the City of Cleveland Division of Water’s suburban service area, including the cities of Euclid, Shaker Heights, University Heights, Cleveland Heights and Beachwood.

GPD coordinates with local municipalities and the Division of Water to obtain historical data and determine the viability of proposed applications. Projects include removal and replacement of existing urban and residential water mains, including replacement of hydrants, valves, house service connections, and above-ground water main bypass piping. The majority of these projects also include roadway resurfacing or complete reconstruction.

Since the partnership began, over 90,000 feet of water main has been replaced at a construction cost of over $18.4M since program inception. The program has also included the replacement of leaded service connections and pipes, all to enhance water service throughout Cleveland and its surrounding communities.
