Cloverleaf Schools: Building a New Campus For the Future

Cloverleaf Local School District in Lodi, Ohio, needed to replace its two aging middle and high school buildings with a modern facility that could better serve students and the community. The district partnered with GPD Group to design a comprehensive 222,738-square-foot Middle/High School campus that would centralize academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities in one location. Guided by a robust educational visioning process, GPD engaged students, staff, and community members to shape a facility that will meet the district’s needs for decades to come. Stakeholders prioritized adding a much-needed auditorium, updated athletic facilities, and flexible, technology-rich learning environments to support 21st-century teaching and learning.

The new Middle/High School, delivered using the CM-at-Risk method, broke ground in October 2021 and was completed in July 2024. Designed with student-centered learning in mind, the building features extended learning areas that encourage collaboration, as well as specialized spaces like STEM labs, a performing arts auditorium, and a variety of athletic facilities. The 650-seat auditorium was designed as a true performance space, complete with an orchestra shell, a full fly system, and advanced lighting and rigging to enhance the student and community experience. This school is the cornerstone of a broader master plan that includes renovations to Gene Clark Stadium, a two-story classroom addition to the elementary school, and the conversion/expansion of the Annex to house the new Board of Education offices.

The $64.8 million project is LEED v4.0 registered, reflecting Cloverleaf’s and GPD’s commitment to sustainable design and energy efficiency. By consolidating multiple facilities into a central campus, the district has created a true hub for the community that will foster a sense of pride and connection while providing flexible, modern spaces for students to thrive.
