Improving Traffic in Historic Downtown Hudson

GPD was selected by the City of Hudson to design the complete reconstruction of State Route 91 through its historic downtown district. It was a collaborative effort between stakeholders, including the City’s involved historical society and dozens of local businesses.

GPD assisted the City to coordinate public meetings and gather input and reach community consensus on streetscape amenities. Robust public involvement made for a successful project that highlighted city history, reused existing stone curbs, improved tree health via innovative Silva Cells and much more. Complete roadway reconstruction with new traffic signals and lighting maintains traffic in both directions while providing pedestrian access to businesses. The resulting downtown streetscape and roadway improvements not only improve traffic flow through the corridor, but heighten the visual appeal of Hudson’s historic shopping district.
