Designing a Calm, Comfortable Medical Campus in Grove City

Mount Carmel Medical Center is the first full-service hospital in Grove City, a suburban community south of Columbus, Ohio. Throughout the project, GPD provided landscape design and structural engineering services, putting the patient first in every design choice.

GPD’s design team worked to link the facility with nature, creating various connection points between the hospital and the adjacent neighborhood and with the goal of making a positive impact on the patients and the surrounding community. Nature pushes through the building via a swath of birch trees and links intimate garden spaces and relocated historical features on the site, along with dozens of other innovative landscape architecture choices.

GPD also provided structural engineering and landscape architecture services for the the new construction of a 520,000-square-foot hospital that included eight floors plus penthouses, and a new five floor, 125,000-square-foot Medical Office Building (MOB). GPD developed several cost-effective solutions, including hybrid concrete and steel structures and alternative foundation systems. Working in close collaboration with Mount Carmel stakeholders, GPD designed a healthcare environment that will serve patients well for years to come.
