NEORSD – Highland Park Golf Course
As part of a continuous improvement plan for water quality within the Mill Creek watershed, the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) partnered with GPD for its Highland Park Golf Course Stream restoration project.
The project was envisioned as the restoration of Mill Creek, a perennial tributary to the Cuyahoga River that runs through the golf course, and involved a 2,900-linear-foot footprint across two reaches of the property. NEORSD partnered with the City of Cleveland to acquire $1.35M in funding through the Ohio EPA’s Water Resource Restoration Sponsorship Program (WRRSP). GPD worked closely with all stakeholders from the very beginning, working in close collaboration through implementation. The successful design restored the stream channel to a natural meander and included connectivity to the floodplain; improved habitat, riffle complexes, wetland pools; stabilized bank; improved water quality; and enhanced golf play.
