A New Home for Summit County Veterans Services

The Summit County Veterans Service Commission worked closely with GPD in the development of a new 16,000-square-foot office space, the new home to its counseling and education programs.

GPD provided architectural design, interior design, energy analysis, MEP and site/civil services for the project, and started with an analysis of internal space to identify the needs for employees and those served by the Commission. GPD selected finishes, furniture and other aesthetic choices, striking an effective balance between comfort, durability and long-term cost-effectiveness.

Many sustainable design concepts were incorporated into the project, including windows with exterior sunshades and interior roller shades, multi-level lighting, and low-VOC products throughout. A parking area incorporates permeable pavers to reduce stormwater runoff, and site design incorporated bioswales to pretreat a percentage of stormwater runoff.
