Case Western Completes Plaza Project on Time
Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) collaborated jointly on a project to demolish the former CIA Gund Building and provide a new landscaped plaza to host University Circle events. This highly visible and heavily trafficked location is situated across from the CMA and in the heart of the CWRU campus. To ensure the plaza was ready for the upcoming “Parade the Circle” celebration, a quick turnaround on the construction documents was necessary.
GPD worked with the City of Cleveland to expedite the permit review process. The design of the plaza was master planned with relocation and demolition of utility and underground features to allow for two new future buildings on the site. Additionally, GPD was commissioned to reerect the Putnam Sculpture by renowned architect Philip Johnson. Our team was able to exceed an aggressive time frame and the plaza was made available well ahead of the “Parade the Circle” event.
