A Proactive Program to Improve Cleveland’s Sewers

Over a five-year period, the City of Cleveland partnered with GPD for program management of its Water Pollution Control (WPC) division. GPD is working to develop and implement procedures to manage their capital improvement program (CIP) and to provide design and construction management services to improve Cleveland’s 100-year-old sewers.

With a goal of leaving WPC self-sufficient in managing their CIP and design and construction of their projects, GPD is leading efforts to develop Levels of Service, CIP project nomination, evaluation and prioritization processes, risk assessment, QA/QC, key performance indicators, project management procedures and much more. The team is also leading the advance planning and design of numerous capital projects.

So far, GPD has helped establish a more proactive culture, standards for design and project management, and has driven the capital improvement program. GPD has also designed $63M of infrastructure improvements to extend a variety of assets’ useful life well into the future.
